Pulling focus on pathways to the camera department

Following SCREEN TRADE’s successful 2022 ASSISTANT CAMERA program, ACE and Panavision Australia again join forces to present this skills development and employment pathway for a new cohort of early career practitioners in 2024.

Assistant camera crew remain in high demand in camera departments of the film and TV industry.

An introductory workshop will put a spotlight on the specialist skill set needed in the Camera Department in the role of Assistant Camera (AC) and First AC in film and TV production, and outline the career pathways to opportunities in the industry. Up to 15 participants will be invited to attend the Introductory workshop with Panavision’s film industry influencer Nic Godoy. Participants from the Introductory workshop will then join the First AC Masterclass with an experienced industry professional as guest facilitator. From best practice within the Camera Department, to handling lenses and equipment, focus pulling to the all-important onset etiquette for crew, this program will support early career practitioners to gain hands-on experience and discover pathways to careers in the screen sector.
