Celebrating First Nations Culture

At The Crescent, Parramatta Park, our friends from the City of Parramatta presented Burramatta NAIDOC, exploring the rich diversity of First Nations music, food, dance, and culture.

This unmissable free event took place on Saturday, July 8, running from 10 am to 4 pm. Burramatta NAIDOC celebrated the 2023 National NAIDOC Week with the theme ‘For Our Elders’, acknowledging the significant role they have played and continue to play in our communities and families.

The event was MCed by Akala Newman, ACE’s First Nations Program Advisor and a proud Wiradjuri/Gadigal woman.

Akala also performed on the day.

From 12 pm to 4 pm, Auntie Julie Webb, proud Dharug Knowledge Holder, hosted the profoundly moving Truth Telling Tent. It was a pertinent moment not to be missed.

A fun day out to experience the vibrant culture and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.  Live music and dance performances,  arts and crafts, market stalls, and songs and stories!
