Western Terrace: Weave and Wonder

October 15, 2025 6:00 pm — Tickets FREE
PHIVE - Western Terrace, 5 Parramatta Square

About the Event

Stories were brought to life through vivid light and movement in this participatory creative experience.

Arts & Cultural Exchange hosted a vibrant evening of art, storytelling and connection as PHIVE’s Western Terrace came alive at golden hour.

Led by First Nations artists, guests had the chance to weave their own earrings or key rings in a hands-on workshop with Samantha Snedden, and were captivated by Bria McCarthy’s enchanting shadow puppet storytelling, followed by an interactive puppet-making session.

Curated by Tannika Keaton, First Nations Associate Producer at Arts & Cultural Exchange (ACE), this FREE community event was perfect for all ages.

About the Artists

Sammi Snedden is a Dunghutti and Wiradjuri emerging artist and curator, who has grown up on Dharug land. Connecting to culture and community has always been a passion. Weaving has led her to her art practice today.
Bria McCarthy creates art for theatre, literature, film and education, specialising in experimental shadow puppetry. She is an autistic artist with Wiradjuri and Irish heritage. Her work is characterised by an emphasis on multispecies storytelling, neurodivergent imagination, and it is always a little magical.

About Western Terrace

The Western Terrace is a series of creative gatherings, performances and workshops taking place underneath the golden hour, as the sun sets, facing West, thinking West. Imagining the Western Terrace as an extension of their own homes, gardens and balconies, the series features artists, authors, filmmakers, musicians and community sharing domestic ritual collectively.

About ACE First Nations

Our First Nations projects support intergenerational and interdisciplinary art practices, the development of experimental work and new platforms for exchange in Western Sydney. We work with deep collaboration and cultural care, challenging what First Nations arts-based projects can look like and how they connect to place.
