The Shooting Scripts and Blue Revisions workshops are an exclusive professional development opportunity designed for early-career screenwriters from underrepresented communities in Western Sydney. This series, presented by Terence McCarthy in partnership with Arts & Cultural Exchange (ACE), is part of the SCREEN TRADES program, offering hands-on training in vital industry skills and a chance to build valuable connections.

 

Workshop One: Shooting Script

Saturday 23 November 2024 | 10 am – 5 pm
The Shooting Script is the key production document used to create the production schedule, guide performances, and shape the final broadcast. This workshop teaches participants how to craft a professional-grade Shooting Script that ensures technical accuracy and timely delivery – a core responsibility of any script coordinator.

 

Workshop Two: Blue Revisions

Saturday 30 November 2024 | 10 am – 5 pm
The Blue Revisions workshop focuses on final technical updates before filming, covering everything from dialogue and action to set dressing and stunts. Participants will learn how to manage this crucial phase with speed, precision, and clear communication – all essential for script coordinators in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Successful Applicants Announced: 11 November 2024
  • Workshops: Held in person at ACE on two consecutive Saturdays (attendance on both dates is required).

  • Writing Sample (max 5 pages)

Meet Your Facilitator: Terence McCarthy

Terence McCarthy brings 17 years of experience across the Australian and US television and film industries. Currently managing the script department for NCIS: Sydney Season 2, Terence has worked alongside industry legends such as Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard and Emmy-nominated writer Bevan Lee. His expertise spans feature film and television, and he has guided many script coordinators to success in their careers.
Earlier in 2024, Terence along with screenwriter/Development Executive Catherine Kelleher, ran the successful AWG First Break workshops at ACE, sharing their industry insights and passion for helping young writers develop their careers. The Television Drama & Comedy Script Coordinator Fundamentals will build on this skillset.
