Arts & Cultural Exchange is thrilled to present Parramatta Literary Salon, a new literary event showcasing writers’ body of work.

For November’s session, we featured the 2025 Stella Prize winner Michelle de Kretser in conversation with Yumna Kassab.

The in-depth conversation was followed by a Q&A with the audience.

Hellai Gul, a writer, poet and critic read some of her latest poetry before the conversation.

This project has been supported through a City of Parramatta Council Community Grant.

About Michelle de Kretser:
Michelle de Kretser was born in Sri Lanka. She lives in Warrane/Sydney on unceded Gadigal land. An honorary associate of the English Department at the University of Sydney, she has won several awards for her fiction. Theory & Practice is her seventh novel.
About Yumna Kassab:
Yumna Kassab is a writer from Western Sydney. She is the author of The House of Youssef, Australiana, The Lovers and Politica. Her latest book, The Theory of Everything, is available from Ultimo Press. She is the inaugural Parramatta Laureate in Literature.
