Garrigarrang Badu

January 9, 2026 6:00 pm — Tickets From $53
Sydney Opera House

Through Dharug women, Country comes alive.

Garrigarang Badu was presented as a large-scale, female-led First Nations contemporary dance work in Dharug language by Jannawi Dance Clan.

Through the work, Dharug women brought Country to life, with Garrigarang (“salt water”) and Badu (“fresh water”) telling the story of Dharug nation—from the mountains to the sea—while honouring the vital role women have played in sustaining culture across generations. The performance explored the deep connections between land, body, and spirit, reflecting strength, resilience, and creativity.

Following a development showing at Sydney Festival in 2023, the work returned in 2026 in full form at the Sydney Opera House, continuing as a living act of cultural continuation and storytelling.
