About

Calling Cards aims to provide an accessible platform for emerging filmmakers in Western Sydney to create impactful short-form content using cost-effective production models with wide audience reach.
Calling Cards is a project of ACE in partnership with Made in the West Creative, with support from Screen NSW.

What is 'Calling Cards'

‘Calling Cards’ is a project of ACE working in partnership with Made in the West Creative. Made in the West Film Festival is an annual film festival showcasing short films by Western Sydney filmmakers. The organisation has recently expanded to include Made in the West Creative. For ACE’s Screen Cultures Program, it carries on our tradition to partner with key industry and community groups to build the capacity of diverse filmmakers in the region.

More Info About this Collaboration

Made in the West designed the 6 workshops which feature the major filmmakers and winners from past MITW Film Festivals as the facilitators. Calling Cards aims to equip emerging filmmakers with skills and workflows to create micro-short films on a DSLR camera or trusty smartphone that can serve as ‘calling cards’ for these new storytelling talents. The event on Sat 22 June is the culmination of the workshop program and will showcase 10 short films produced by participants.
