BALANDA by Natalie Snedden – A Celebration of New Beginnings

October 4, 2024 6:00 pm — Tickets FREE
8 Victoria Rd Parramatta

We’re thrilled to celebrate Nat Snedden, our second Artist in Residence, for her breathtaking exhibition BALANDA. Supported by Arts and Cultural Exchange’s Still Growing Collective program, this initiative champions the creative visions of First Nations women, fostering an environment where collaboration and empowerment take centre stage.

With guidance from ACE First Nations Producer Tannika Keaton and artist Akala Newman, BALANDA is a testament to the program’s impact, nurturing artistic excellence while honouring cultural identity and healing. Nat’s evolving craft serves as a profound connection to her family, culture, and the broader community.

“The Best Experience of my Residency at ACE would have to be the relationships I’ve created along the way.”

The Still Growing Collective continues to provide crucial opportunities for First Nations artists to thrive, share their stories, and inspire change. Here Nat is also working with Wiradjuri Artist Merindah Funnell sharing her studio and practice with Nat passing on future knowledge. Akala and Tannika also share insight into the importance of the program ensuring “deep time and deep listening” to develop meaningful relationships and continued support for artists even once the program is finished.

“It champions the voices of the younger generation coming through… Nat left completely transformed.”

Proudly continuing First Nations Storytelling on Dharug Land supported by RISE Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts.
