“Club Weld musicians changed my perception of music. That’s been the biggest thing for me – changing the feeling and meaning of music. It’s just pure joy making their music.”
– Charlie Westhoff, ACO Project Lead

“What’s so amazing about working with these artists is there’s a lack of inhibition and it’s really rubbed off to our musicians. They’re giving and our people are giving back and it’s a really genuine collaboration and communication.”
– Tara Smith, ACO Head of Engagement and Learning

THE ARTISTS TAKING THE STAGE

The showcase brings together ACO musicians, Club Weld’s Jonathan Yung, Patrick Li, Tua Hunt and Jerrah Patston and special guests, for a live performance in The Neilson.
Since 2015, Club Weld has supported artists with autism and other disabilities to create, perform and release music through an artist-led practice, with work presented at venues including the Sydney Opera House and Art Gallery of NSW.

A COLLABORATION THAT KEEPS GROWING

Since Club Weld first performed at ACO On The Pier last November, its relationship with the ACO has continued to grow, with several projects now underway. These include A Magical Hotstart, a new avant-garde opera by Justene Williams, inspired by objects from the Powerhouse Collection, premiering at Powerhouse Parramatta on 26–27 November.
