About the Book

The Hair of the Pigeon is a sweeping story of exile, endurance, and unbreakable love, journeying from the horrors of the Syrian civil war in a Palestinian refugee camp, through the upheavals of the Arab Spring and across the Mediterranean, to contemporary Copenhagen.

About Mohammed M Morsi

Mohammed Massoud Morsi is an Egyptian–Danish–Australian writer, photographer and former journalist. Published across three languages, his work explores the human core of displacement, power and survival, informed by a photographer’s precision and a commitment to challenging dominant narratives.

About Yumna Kassab

Yumna Kassab is a writer and the author of The House of Youssef, Australiana, The Lovers, Politica, and The Theory of Everything. Her work has been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary Award, the Stella Prize, and the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards. As the inaugural Parramatta Laureate in Literature, she wrote Parramatta: A Dictionary of Place and Memory, forthcoming in July.

A Western Sydney Book Club explores books by contemporary authors, with an initial focus on Australian writing.
Monthly conversations about books led by guest authors, for readers in and connected to Western Sydney.
