About the Book

A Savage Turn is a searing debut poetry collection from Gamilaroi poet Luke Patterson. Using biting wit and sharp insight into both modern and traditional life, Patterson’s poems move across forest billabongs, prisons, and the lingering nightmares of the not-so-distant past. The collection explores memory, violence, place and survival, confronting the ways history continues to shape the present.
