Club Weld’s New EP Release ‘ANGELA’ by Anthony Talarico

One of Club Weld’s founding musicians, Anthony Talarico has been improvising in the studio since 2014.

The Angela EP is Talarico’s first solo release, and first with producer Annais Paris.

The EP is all about the noise of life, discovery and connection – a loose net of conversations, affirmations and sly pop references.

Angela is an improvised pop song, evoking a hazy, nostalgic feeling analogous to Space Oddity or mid 70s Neil Young. Pasko Schravemade’s jazzy, Steely Dan (ish) keys help advance Talarico’s expressive, open string guitar explosions, and touching lyrics about talking to his mother.

Last Night returns to the heavier atmospheres explored by Talarico previously. Weeow Weeow is a carrier wave, fighting through static to find amplitude.

Visual artist Naomi Oliver created a beautiful visual accompaniment to Angela.
Oliver comments, “The visuals for the clip are a mixture of footage I captured on DV tape in the early 2000s of a quiet, empty office space, combined with paper collage and animation. These playful visual elements, added to otherwise static shots and corporate-style aesthetics, were intended to echo the moments of warmth and colour I get from the track.”
